About
Both Swiss and San Francisco Bay Area native, Tristan Zand is a conceptual artist / experimental photographer / videographer / musician / coder attempting to answer everyday-reality’s call to become Human stories. He gravitates between the Bay Area, Iceland, and Switzerland.
His experimental work represents a seamless emulsion of analogue and digital substrates, implicit attempt at increasing narrative and poetic enthalpy towards deeper emotional adventures.
He prioritises digital artifacts and aliasing as instruments, both figuratively and conceptually.
AI has been a natural focus of his work since the early 2000s, both in collective and solo projects, where he extensively relies on bespoke software, protocols, and self-trained multimodal models as the building blocks of his ongoing research on the symbiosis between the real and the virtual, and their mutual longing to coexist.
